My portfolio,
rebuilt as a game.
A 2001 visual kei band’s official site, lit like a CRT at 2 a.m. Every section is a stage, a radio plays in the corner, and the page plays back.

A portfolio you can lose an hour in
This portfolio, rebuilt as a 2001 visual kei band’s official site, lit like a CRT at 2 a.m. and played like a game. Every section is a stage: Nameer FM plays four stations of music from open-source games and its bass drives the glow, Midnight TV runs Milkdrop visuals to whatever is on, and Night Run sends you through a graveyard to dig up all nine releases.
Seven stages, one page
The page reads like a game: a stage track under the nav with a small runner that follows your scroll, and a door to the next stage at the end of every section.

Information
Release news with the real store dates. Each release opens its liner notes, a page of its own you can link to, and steps through to the next one.

Midnight TV
A CRT that plays Milkdrop visuals to whatever Nameer FM is on. Power it up, flip through twenty channels, let it change by itself or go full screen.

Night Run
A runner through a pixel graveyard under a pink moon. Jump the graves and whatever climbs out of them, dig up all nine releases, and beat your best score.

Profile
A holographic member card that tilts with your pointer and turns over when you press it, next to the parts I play and the stack I play them with.

Continue?
The ending is an arcade countdown on the same graveyard. Continue starts a project on WhatsApp, and the credits wait in a small link underneath.
Four stations of open-source game music
Every track comes from an open-source game, with its license and source in the credits. The radio’s analyser follows the bass, so the neon on the title pulses with the music.

Synths and dark electronics from open-source strategy and space games.
- Warzone 2100
- Naev
- Red Eclipse
Choirs, strings and shadows from fantasy and space games.
- The Battle for Wesnoth
- Naev
Fast boss themes from a free bullet-hell game.
- Taisei Project
Chiptune from two open-source platformers and a free retro game pack.
- SuperTux
- Open Surge
- Retro Game Music Pack
Things the page hides
Seven bats hide around the site. The Konami code, or five taps on the logo, turns on Visual Shock: the neon flips to cyan and the radio jumps to its fastest station.
This page knows the code too. Type it, or tap the keys in order.

Plays with one thumb
The radio folds into a pill, the nav into a menu, and Night Run jumps on a tap.
What I did on it
Art direction
Visual kei as a design language: blackletter neon, Japanese section names set vertically, open-licence characters lit in rose, and grain over everything.
The radio
A Web Audio engine with live bass detection that drives the glow across the page, and lock-screen controls on phones.
The TV and the card
Milkdrop visuals rendered in WebGL and loaded only when the TV is switched on, plus a holographic shader for the member card.
The game
A small TypeScript game engine on a pixel canvas, with chiptune sound effects synthesised in the browser and your best score kept on your device.
Shipping it
Its own Cloudflare Worker at retro.iraq-dev.com, with one piece of code that streams the radio in parts, which iPhones need before they will play it.
